Do you like this idea???

I love applique so much and I have been playing around with some ideas for fabrics but I have a question???
Would you buy it??? I thought I’d take a mini poll and find out from my peeps if this is a direction I should pursue ? I won’t go hog wild just a couple of intros but it be good to have a feel from my guys and gals out there who are always in and out of the quilt stores! I want it to look rather random and appliqued to the fabric. Don’t worry I’m strong and I can take criticism just do it in a gentle way ok??? Oh and yes a lovely gal from California won the second part to my bumbled raffle and her name is Anita Monery no blog but e-mail her and Congratulate her! Don’t worry even the late comers were entered so never fear!!! I am always so grateful to you guys for your dedication to this blog it makes me so happy!!Birdiesings

Interesting idea…would like to see a few more. I love applique…but don’t like everything so perfect and planned like some applique pieces appear. This looks like it could have some possibilities.

  2. Terri says:

I love applique and would love to learn more to perfect my technique. I would encourage you to pursue it further!

  3. Cindie says:

I love applique and I think that it would definitely be worth pursuing.
It would be fun to use them on some of the clothing we design.

Oooh! I love that! And I love applique work! I first started with applique onto quilts, pillows, and other home decor. Then I’ve done it on children’s clothing, too. It adds such a new look to items. Definitely go for it!

I’m picturing the fabric above being a dress for my daughter. I would buy it for clothes, but maybe not pillows, curtians, ect… Actually it would probably do me some good to make a pillow or two out of it. =) A bit of random decor sure wouldn’t hurt.

  10. I am a little confused is the bird an applique on a quit or fabric? Would you want to sell the appliques separately? Sorry maybe its just me, but I am not sure what the bird is supposed to be on.
Personally I only like them on tea towels and linens and children’s clothes. I used to design children’s clothes in NYC in the early 90’s and we did lots and lots of appliques!! I believe they still use them allot to embellish pockets, shirts etc. how about a cute baby t with the bird on it?? NUdge Nudge hint hint !!!

  11. Karla says:

    Absolutely would buy it.

  12. Love applique’s but I think it’s a little too busy/jumbly… maybe make the bird solid a more solid fabric/pattern and I’d be all over it.

  13. Kristina says:

very cool! I especially love the dimension it adds to the fabric! The different prints add interest and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Can’t wait to see more of your creations!

It makes me smile- I love the contrast of color and designs

My experience in terms of what is selling during these “squealing pennies” times is that a practical purpose drenched in prettiness is hard to resist. Also, anything that facilitates organization justifies spending. So am I getting rich with these insights? No Way! Probably due to my addiction to quilt shops!

  16. Marie says:

I absolutely love it, especially this color combo-it’s not matchy matchy and I love that.

  17. Jona says:

I love it Jennifer! I really love the contrast of the two fabrics and I love the bird.
Congratulations Anita! A nice gift for a nice person!

  18. Anita says:

Thank you, I can’t wait to dig into that beautiful fabric! I think the proposed fabric on this post is beautiful, as usual.

  19. Debbie says:

I’m with the person that doesn’t get it. Are you proposing actual appliques or fabric with an applique look. If it’s the latter I’d be all over it – love that look! Love all your fabric too!!

  20. Mary says:

I like the look of that! Very fresh and fun and a little dramatic.

  21. I like the applique look. I would just do it rather sparsely or it would get really crowded fast. I love the color combination that you’ve got going on, too. I can’t wait to see where you go with this. It looks fabulous so far.

love it, super cute and fresh.

  24. I too, have been playing with appliques lately. I love your idea of adding appliques to your fabric design. It seems to me to be a natural extension of your previous designs. I would certainly buy it.

  30. denise says:

love it! I’d buy it even if it was just to own it haha. I’m always looking for interesting quilt backings too.

  31. jen eskridge says:

I think that is good looking! One piece with “appliqued” silhouettes to tie the whole line together at once. I think it would sell. Love the bird! ~jen~

  32. Ginger Armstrong says:

Love this idea! I love the contrasting prints! I could do solid on print as well, but really LOVE the interest of 2 prints. Love random also.. Has a crafted as opposed to manufactured feel… In the end, go with your gut, it hasn’t let you down yet!
