Pom Pom Party Pouf & Garland Tutorial!

It’s time to craft!!! Join Jennifer as she walks you through the Pom Pom Party Pouf & Garland tutorial from Happy Home.

It’s a GREAT project for the Summer — think of all those special moments you can decorate… from BBQ’s, birthday parties and beach parties to weddings, kiddo parties, and well, even a special room in your home!

These are fabulous projects to do with kids, as there are kid-friendly options. The Plastic poms you will see come wrapped up in a twisty tie. It’s a safe alternative to the hot glue gun, and still achieves the same, beautiful result.

As always, we like to remind folks that the glue gun should ONLY be used with parental supervision. It can get very hot and can be dangerous.

Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

A Sis Boom Cottage!

Fresh cut flowers, a warm breeze, lemonade in your hand, and your feet up on a soft, handcrafted quilt. The curtains billow in the air as a Summer breeze passes through, and you dream of your next sewing project… A pillow? A table cloth? A satchel?… all things that make your life just a little bit sweeter. You’re in a Sis Boom cottage, and it’s perfectly balanced between a soft, whimsy sensibility and a sleek modern spin… Somewhere in the middle of those two worlds is where Sis Boom lies. Pom poms and cotton meet glitter and sheen to create a welcoming, happy, inspiring place for you and your family to dream, love and play.

SIS BOOM CLIP ART SERIES: HAPPY HOME BANNER

SIS BOOM CLIP ART SERIES: HAPPY HOME BANNER
What better way to spend a happy Friday than to make a Happy Home Banner that’s full of color, sparkle, and happiness??

This week we’re taking Sis Boom’s Glitter textures Clip Art and turning it into something magical!

The best part about these little guys? There are a TON of colors to choose from, so you can coordinate to almost any palette.

First we have to take our scalloped squares and make ’em BIGGER.  To do this, create a new file in Photoshop (or whatever photo editing program you like to use) that has a width of 11 in and a height of 8.5 in.  Copy and paste two separate scallop squares into your new document. You can really make them any size you’d like, but for mine I found a width of 355 px and height of 415 px worked well to fit two squares on each page (shown with the blue arrow above).  Print it out on a regular piece of paper (or glossy photo paper for a shinier version) – just be sure to “scale to fit” the page when printing so nothing gets cropped out!  Repeat until you have the proper number of squares (For “Happy Home” you will need 9!)

You’ll also need to cut out some letters! I decided to dust off my Cricut machine, but you can either add in the letters digitally before you print, write them on with marker yourself, or print out letters to cut out.  You’ll also need some glue & scissors to cut out your squares and glue on the letters!

To help hang up your pretty little banner, you’ll need some ribbon or sequin strands and some clothespins. I just took some regular old clothespins, covered one side in white glue, and sprinkled on some glitter to keep with our colorful, sparkly theme. Feel free to embellish any way you’d like! (For some of you, part of the appeal of these digital scallop squares might be the fact they have the pretty look of glitter, without all the mess.  If that’s the case, you can even print out some extra squares and cut out strips to glue on your clothespins)

Make a loop at each end of your ribbon, use a couple of push pins, and voila! Your home is instantly happier 🙂 🙂 🙂

Pop over to LOVE COLORFUL to see Jessica’s finished product!! Come on, ya gotta! You’ll LOVE IT!

What I’m talking about.

It’s a new world, it’s a new day and we are blessed to be part of these new emerging times.  Check out Judy Buchanan shedding light on the wonderful Jane in Superfly. Remember, Judy is your source for purchasing items if you don’t sew. Shop her adorable and wonderful selection HERE on ETSY, or contact her directly here.

Loving these bold prints juxtaposed with this Shabby Chic Interior.  We get to choose. How lovely is that?  There used to be so many rules. My mom reminds me of them all the time- mostly that everything from one era stayed in that era and that you didn’t mix. Now it’s so much more eclectic and we define our own style in making choices.  In my mind, there is a fresh breath in Judy’s take on the world and it is shown over and over on our facebook page.  She has style.

I hope you will join us on facebook— join the conversation, because everyone there wants to meet you and we are all saving a place for you.  If you love what we do here just stop in and meet like-minded friends.

So, here are some portraits from Georgia Handy’s latest photo shoot. (See more Georgia Handy HERE).  The brilliance of this combo below can’t be denied.  Your photographer and his interpretation is everything- that’s why I so love Mr. Tim Geaney who photographed both of our books, Girls World and Happy Home.  Purchase them for less than $35.00 on Amazon! (Now, that’s unheard of!).

As you know we are getting ready for our annual show coming up Dec. 13, 14,15th that Thursday, Friday, Saturday.  So I just want to say I’m in the speed lane of crafting and enjoying my time immensely in the craft room.  My husband Peter and my assistant Madeline are making it so nice for me so that I ‘m free to create 100’s of items for the show so from October to December I don’t look up hardly.  But as crafters all know something amazingly divine happens when we are in the zone. It’s a magical time and I have so many ideas and those ideas breed new ideas so there is no time to despair.  I hope you all our well I’ve been thinking so much about the Sandy victims and praying for them and trying to do what I can.  Before I leave you I wanted to show you the Vanessa and Bettyann ready to be launched in two short weeks and it’s a very exciting time.  This is one of the last items in our book Happy Home to be done and then all the clothes in the book will be patterns.!!!  Thank you Carla for making this all come to life.  You are the best!
