Getting Ready for the Holidays with Hotel Frederiksted

Once again Merav and Baby Hobbes of Baby Hobbes Design are back showing off this lovely Gabriella Fae in our newest fabric line Hotel Frederiksted due out in stores later any day now. We hope this post inspires you to include Sis Boom in your holiday sewing! Don’t forget to share with us on Facebook and Instagram. We always love seeing what you are creating.

I am more of a last minute kind of gal! Somehow I stay organized (love my “to-do” list) but I am known to procrastinate A LOT! Hmmmm…starting my kids Halloween costumes 48 hours before they needed to be worn, for example! But when I received my Hotel Fredriksted samples, I couldn’t resist jumping into “Holiday” Mode since this collection features gorgeous reds, greens, blue and white colorways that fit perfect with the Winter Holiday Spirit.

It’s tradition here for Hobbes grandparents to take her to see the Nutcracker Ballet, so I wanted to create a festive look that will mirror Hanukkah and Christmas enthusiasm, yet include the comfort and wear-abilty that is my signature style.

I instantly grabbed Gabriella Fae, Hobbes favorite Sis Boom pattern and went to work. I wove Krysta in white and Christie in Blue (cutting stripes) together to create the skirt.

For the top, I chose Sophia in pink, a bit of white half inch crochet trim for the centerpiece and a lacy exposed zipper for the back.

I wanted a full skirt for Hobbes size three width-I cut each stripe from salvage to salvage and then curved the bodice to create a light bounce in the front.
See here for my previous tutorial on curving bodice.

Let me know what you think of Hobbes’s Hotel Fred Holiday dress and of you had a chance to try out curving your dress bodices too.

Till next time, Happy Sewing!

Introducing Kelsey – Our Newest Top/Dress for Girls

kelsey2

Kelsey was named after, you guessed it, Kelsey! Kelsey is the daughter of Jenny Fish and quite the budding fashionista. The Fish Family lives in Texas and have been long time Sis Boom Fans. In fact, they are known as the FIRST documented Sis Boom Fans around here. We are so grateful for their support over the years and it was a thrill to name a pattern after this beautiful young lady.

The Kelsey Top/Dress came be made in three lengths – top, tea length dress and maxi dress. This pattern is sweet and sassy and perfect for summer and fits girls 3 months to 14 years. Take Kelsey into the fall with a cardigan or long sleeve top underneath. We hope you enjoy sewing a Kelsey as much as we enjoyed designing her. Make one today and give us a shout on Facebook or Instagram!

#4 Sophie Tunic – tunics are a favorite for a reason, they are so versatile! They look great with jeans, dressed up with fancy shoes and jewelry, or dressed down with sandals and covering a bathing suit for a day at the beach or pool. Sophie is another quick sew and perfect for a beginner, plus 3 sleeve options are included for endless fun.

#3 Ethan Boys Button-Up Shirt – Dress your handsome young hunk in a classic Sis Boom button-down. Perfect for formal holidays, birthday boys, family photos, confirmations, family gatherings.. the list goes on… Pair a Sis Boom Ethan with some khakis, brown belt, hips shoes and… you’re done! Watch out, ladies! The Ethan is also perfect on girls/teens paired with skinny jeans and boots in the fall/winter, and cute sandals in spring/summer.

#2 Marissa Dress – Sis Boom’s Marissa is a sophisticated, fancier dress for girls with pinched straps and cummerbund waist. This pattern is a showstopper paired with your favorite Sis Boom fabric and a crinoline. A sparkly brooch added to the cummerbund really sends it over the top.

#1 Bettyann Shift Dress/Top – Bettyann is simple and comfortable, but one of our more versatile patterns. No wonder she is so popular. Sew a classic dress or top, add length for a maxi dress plus you can add pockets or ruffle sleeves for more whimsy. Such a fun, classic pattern that will never go out of style.

Hickity Pickity for Jenny Eliza

hickity hickityp hickitypick HickityPi HICK HickitypickitySo by now you have heard of Hickity Pickity and I know for some of you it can be confusing because we are always talking about them on Facebook. they are the leaders in their genre. They use quilting fabrics for all of their products and we couldn’t be happier that they are smitten with both Sis Boom and Jenny Eliza. Judy Buchannan has been the visionary of Hickity Pickity and now along with her daughter they have artistically styled a very branded look.  They bow to Lily Pulitzer but have a certain signature that moves beyond that and distinguishes them from the pack.  They are also the ones that got the Aussies all their Jenny Eliza and we are so grateful for their generosity.  Hickity Pickity  you make us thirst for more of the incredible style that is you!!! Follow them, They will make you anything, you will enjoy working with them. They are in Florida and ship internationally!!! Organic Moments thanks for all the beautiful photos.
