The Holidays with Sis Boom
By Becca Plymale of Sunflower Seams
I am very excited Sis Boom decided to put on a Holiday blog tour. I had such a wonderful time during the Back to School tour that I jumped at the chance to be a part of another.
The holidays are a very special time for me. It’s a time for family gatherings, and traditions but they also have a special place in my heart when it comes to sewing. The first dress I ever made my daughter as a baby was a Christmas dress and that is when my passion of sewing garments became real. I love giving her something special each year, unique to her and her growing personality.
For this year’s Christmas dress, I chose to use the Marissa Dress PDF pattern. It is so elegant but still captures an innocence that she possesses. I don’t need her growing up any faster then she already is.

Our Top 5 women’s patterns post was so popular, we thought we’d do a run down of our most popular patterns for kids. If you are working on any Sis Boom patterns and have a question, make sure to join our Sis Boom Pattern Co Facebook group. Jeanine Thomlinson runs the show over there and she knows the patterns inside and out! Don’t forget to share with me what you’re working on, it always brightens my day. I’m on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
#5 Carly Baby Bubble Romper – if you have a little one in your life, nothing is cuter than the Carly Baby Bubble. Sewist love this easy and quick, reversible pattern. Mom’s love it’s easy on and easy off design and it makes diaper changes a breeze on the go. Jazz it up with sweet sleeve options galore – sleeveless, or with ruffle or puff sleeves.
#4 Sophie Tunic – tunics are a favorite for a reason, they are so versatile! They look great with jeans, dressed up with fancy shoes and jewelry, or dressed down with sandals and covering a bathing suit for a day at the beach or pool. Sophie is another quick sew and perfect for a beginner, plus 3 sleeve options are included for endless fun.
#3 Ethan Boys Button-Up Shirt – Dress your handsome young hunk in a classic Sis Boom button-down. Perfect for formal holidays, birthday boys, family photos, confirmations, family gatherings.. the list goes on… Pair a Sis Boom Ethan with some khakis, brown belt, hips shoes and… you’re done! Watch out, ladies! The Ethan is also perfect on girls/teens paired with skinny jeans and boots in the fall/winter, and cute sandals in spring/summer.
#2 Marissa Dress – Sis Boom’s Marissa is a sophisticated, fancier dress for girls with pinched straps and cummerbund waist. This pattern is a showstopper paired with your favorite Sis Boom fabric and a crinoline. A sparkly brooch added to the cummerbund really sends it over the top.
#1 Bettyann Shift Dress/Top – Bettyann is simple and comfortable, but one of our more versatile patterns. No wonder she is so popular. Sew a classic dress or top, add length for a maxi dress plus you can add pockets or ruffle sleeves for more whimsy. Such a fun, classic pattern that will never go out of style.
