Happy National Quilt Day

Make something you love!!!  I love sewing to paper and making pretty pictures..

Part B

Today I was thrilled to see my friend Terrie Langer who stopped by to show me her incredible quilting and this one below caught my eye and lit up the room and as she talked she got more and more excited and then she said “this is totally not me! ” This is so out of my comfort zone.  OMG The timing couldn’t be more spectacular.  Here is the evidence from someone who did rather vanilla “safe” work and then created this!!!  I was dumbstruck at the beauty.  Even the way it’s cut was a challenge but she plowed through and this is the evidence of someone who just forged ahead.  Terri is a good example of someone who wasn’t quite sure about things not matching and not working together and created this beautiful organic quilt top!! I love the sensitivity she did a tremendous job and if you are anything like me you would love to own it!! So take out what you love and sew them together. No rules, unbound and be a little reckless!!!  Thanks Terri!! So great spending time with you.

It’s Patricia time!!!

Can’t we all use a little Patricia in our lives (not to mention Crazy Love!!!!)? I wore this tunic today and let me tell you– I felt like a million bucks. I could only wish the same for you! Like this little dance? We do too 🙂 We had to show off that bell sleeve in all its glory. Have a spectacular Friday night, guys. lots of love!

This doesn’t match

and still I get goosebumps!!!!  This is design I celebrate.  You know I was talking to a neighbor a lovely new neighbor who is so special.  She loves our fabric, LOVES but I could tell intimidated by the color choices that she would have  to make and always defaults to brown..I SO GET THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!.  I hear it from so many people. When you are not well oiled for color my line can look like a color collision with not such a good outcome.  When folks approach me with a color to match I go cold.  Whatever I show that person doesn’t EXACTLY match and it seems as though I’m trying to push her into something she doesn’t want.  It’s not easy to invite color in because we feel there is a formula that no one else has shared and we’ll look stupid. Am I right??  What are the rules again???  I get it, thus default to safe neutrals.  Playing it safe is really no fun when your heartstrings are pulled by pattern and color.  People walk into my home during a show and wonder if I’m married??  Like saying Do I subject him to this color everyday???  They aren’t being rude, they love everything I have here but won’t do it themselves.  One person was like omg you have oriental rugs and the fabrics work so beautifully with them..Is there a rule I don’t know??  I feel like so much of what I do at Sis Boom is educate folks to color.  For them in their home it can be an assault on the senses.  But I have a challenge and a mission.  One room one guest bed or children’s room buy what you like!!!  Remember that, buy what you like.  Don’t ask if it goes together!!  On that bed do a bunch of pillows in  fabrics you love..absolutely love regardless of color.  Put them together on that bed.  Live with it .   Tell me what happens.  To get started go to the Perfect Palette and get familiar with color ranges you love. Start there.  I love her site she takes flowers and gives the coordinating color swatches. Interesting thought we never challenge flowers as not matching!!  Nature doesn’t match folks.  Live with color for just a day and your mood will change I guarantee!! so thank you Rachel Sims-Elias from Isadora Kids for such a beautiful expression of what you love.  The cha cha skirt is sensational too!!!  I just love what you did with Girls World Vibe!!! Make sure to visit her on Etsy!! Thanks for all your sweet comments on my MaMa!!! She loved every one of them and wanted to be sure I thanked everyone.

My Mom Patricia

Oh this woman works 24/7 !!  She is our best promoter.  She’s got 6 kids and she’s always putting a good word in for us where ever she can. She has sold more Girls World than anyone and has started pitching Happy Home due out in May. She called me yesterday cause she’s sending a letter to Channel 4 NY Live to talk about Girls World.  This is a woman who delights in her children’s successes and knows what hard work it takes and all the highs and lows. The fact of the matter is that it would be nice to get that gig and promote the brand but my life doesn’t depend on it. She taught me that, she taught me acceptance. She’s also where I learned to be kind and for me at the end of my life I don’t want to be remembered by how many yards I sold but rather how I made a difference in someone’s life you can bet that came from her.  It matters to me.  When I see a little girl in a Sis Boom dress and realize the love that goes into creating that dress, that’s what matters.  Sometimes we think a flashier car or luxury items will make us better people but when you live in the moment and are grateful for what you do have you realize and can appreciate that they are nice things but they don’t define us. I want to live in a world where everyone matters and everyone has value!  She taught me that. I know what it is to struggle and I recognize that we all have our hardships, and we all have our successes.  I love that you allow me to be part of that.  I wonder as we all do if I will ever truly be a success , oh yes I have those days that I feel invisible and no one likes me or my products. But then I reach out and help another struggling person with the same negative thinking going on in the back ground well guess what?? We both feel  better by purging those stalking ghosts and are more motivated to try it for another day.  That’s how it works.  I’m not a saint I just know what momma taught me and so far it’s never failed me.  Thanks mom I love you so much…

Oh and she also taught me about Unbirthdays, just celebrating folks for just being them so today I wish you all a Happy Unbirthday especially you mom!

What I love about Sis Boom
The happy colors and gorgeous designs – I especially love the Marnie and Jane prints.  The designs are timeless, but the unexpected color combinations make them young and fresh!  Oh and Georgie the dog!
