Mama leaves today. I feel so blessed to have had her here for 2 months. She's where I get it from.
The urge to nest and make nice. That's what mama was all about I remember when the red velvet Henredon couch showed up and she roped of the living room from sticky fingers. I just loved to go and look at her special room that must have brought her so much joy. The gold end tables with clean glass tops and beautiful glass ashtrays, the light blue walls and the record player that carooned Claudine Longet.
The rest of the house was where we played and made noise but the living room was her sanctuary not mine or anyone else's, although I did once get spanked on that red sofa by my dad. It was a place of her own. She new innately that women needed their own space.
She is my role model. She's loving and kind and loves to be silly, she can laugh at herself, and she loves to find pretty things. Seems like so many woman find serenity in the pursuit of lovely.
She loves flowers and bird watching and fascinated with animals. We watch youtube videos of dogs and cats doing silly things and laugh like crazy. She sighs at every bit of beauty that surrounds her and never takes anything for granted. She lives everyday with a grateful heart no matter what life hands her.
This year something special happened a yellow bird that comes to my house every year for twenty seconds (not kidding) talking very bright yellow and very busy and no one in the family believes me but this year he brought his girlfriend and mom and I were inside watching and she saw him!!. I finally have a witness!!!
Like the birdie mom is going back to Puerto Rico with lots of new Patricia Tops ,named for her and lots of great memories. Until next year mama..your family in CT will be waiting.
