We Love a Flying Girl!

A favorite personality of the Quilting World is Melissa Stramel , She is simply put..Lovely. She has no idea that I am a big admirer of her work and love for life.  She is one of the loveliest folks I have found and she is going after her dreams which is always a positive message to carry to others. The Beloved pattern is hugely popular but because her daughter requested a ball gown she made some changes and added a couple of things and voila, she has reinvented the pattern for her daughters whimsy and now so can you! Purchase the pattern here.  We love her use of Happy Land found at Hancock’s of Paducah.   Just a reminder Happy Land is moving fast to make room for Circa so don’t delay your decision. Getting harder to find. Melissa thanks for delighting the world with frills and fancy!!!!

Do not miss the raffle June 15th.

Something for the Boys

I bow down to Carla Crim on this one Not as easy as most of our patterns the Ethan and Marco patterns will challenge you to take the next step.  In true Sis Boom form Carla writes it so the beginner can stay engaged and create something wonderful for the boys/ men in your life.  Carla will not bring a pattern to market that all levels cannot create. We are so excited about this! Folks were so enthusiastic about seeing a men’s shirt in Happy Home that we decided to offer it in our pattern collection.  Kudos to the Scientific Seamstress for bringing it to life!!!  So let’s create!!! They are in our shop and will be distributed to our sellers very soon. Please note these are long sleeves with cuffs we forgot to show you them with the cuff..next photoshoot. Fabric found here. LOVE COLORFUL + SIS BOOM CLIP ART SERIES: SEQUIN FLOWER TREE

Without further ado, I hand the Sis Boom glittery mic over to Jessica of LOVE COLORFUL for our weekly Sis Boom CLIP ART par-tay!

Looking for an festive DIY decoration that’s perfect for Spring and easy to make?  I’ve got the perfect project for this week’s Sis Boom Clip Art Series project: a sequin flower tree!

This project features the Sis Boom Felt Sequin Flowers clip art!

They’re so colorful and fun and will give you the look of real hand-sewn felt flowers (without all the time consuming work of actually sewing on each sequin!)

For this project you will need:

Sis Boom Hand-Sewn Felt Flowers & Sequins clip art file

-a styrofoam cone

-green tinsel glitter

-metallic origami paper

-8 1/2″ x 11″ sticker paper that can be used in an inkjet printer (I found mine at a local office supply store)

-sequin pins & a couple of sequins

-glue, scissors

To start, cover the styrofoam cone with glue and sprinkle on glitter. Shake off excess and let dry. (You can also spray with an acrylic sealer if you want to make sure the glitter stays!)

Print the clip art file on the sticker paper. You can also scale down the image to make a variety of flower sizes – just remember to save a copy of the file and then scale the image to 75%, 50%, etc.  Cut the flowers out into individual pieces – this part doesn’t have to be super clean as you will cut out the actual shape of the flower in a moment. Peel off the backing and stick a flower to the backside of a piece of origami paper (sticky side of flower to white side of origami paper) so that the backside of the flower becomes shiny. Cut out the flowers again, this time cutting around the petals. “Crinkle” each flower by bending up the edges to give it some dimension.

*If you can’t find sticker paper, you can still achieve the same effect by gluing each flower to the origami paper, but you’ll have to wait some extra time while each one dries.  The sticker paper just makes it super quick and easy!

Using the sequin pins, pin each flower to the styrofoam tree, placing a real sequin in the middle to give it a little extra shine.

Pop over to LOVE COLORFUL to see the beautiful finished product. You’ll love it– Promise!

Clock is ticking

Hey amazon has a great deal on our books!!!!!!!  Ok so not all of you know we have Christmas Stocking Patterns in our Happy Home!!!!   In our Happy Home we love having stockings in non traditional colors and Happy Land is super for giving a Holiday fun feel without being traditional.  So I came up with a durable laminate stocking that is wipe- able!!  And if you add a pocket there’s a place for a note to Santa!!! (my idea) so here we have beautiful Madeline with a laminate stocking which I believe to be so retro looking and really puts a luster on Happy Christmas.  I hope you all love it cause you mean the world to me.  Show us yours, we are watching.Madeline’s dress is very similar to the Angie Pattern for the Holidays.  Fabric for dress found here at Hawthorne Threads  Laminate found at Alewives!  Big thanks to both..Also check out Equilter for our books and rare finds!!

We love likes and reviews on Amazon...thanks from the very bottom.
