This past weekend I had the luxury of attending Monarch Workshop. The workshop is run by an incredible group of women (including our very own Madeline) and aims to support "those who need a little push, those who are looking for a creative connection, and those who need inspiration to believe they can follow their dreams." The attendees were made up of a spectacular group of women whose occupations ranged from bloggers to therapists and real estate agents to artists. The two day workshop consisted of non-stop activities (lessons, speakers, crafting) that catered to the mind, body and soul. It was FABULOUS. Our fearless leader, Jennifer Paganelli, was a guest speaker and led the group in creating vision books. The books were created by gluing inspiring cut outs (words, quotes, images) from magazines onto blank notebook pages. There was yoga and lessons in make-up and skincare. We made our own dream catchers, ate delicious food (from the ladies at Whisk + Brush) and had a tutorial in all things confetti! Take a look below of more images from the incredibly talented Victoria Gloria: To see even more images click here For information on Monarch Workshop and to receive notifications about the upcoming Spring 2015 Workshop click here -- Lisa

I don't mean at all to be annoying but this is truly what I am working on these days. Our Holiday Show. November 7-9 9-6 and believe me it takes elves working day and night. We start early and we work long hours to make sure we have created a worthwhile place to spend some time. So I am kicking off the calender with these trees, my new fetish!!! I love them. I hope you will come by to rest your weary Holiday feet and get excited about the Holidays. It is early this year and we just have so much to get ready!!! Please say you will come and join us. We love seeing you !!!
Hawthorne Threads ordered more Circa for those collectors (hoarders) out there! They have cut you fat quarters and charm packs and all that good stuff. So please take what you need to complete your Sis Boom Treasury!! We are so excited this line filled you with inspiration! We love all the ideas and are amazed at the talent out there!! This may be the end of it so grab up when you can!! The sellers shelves are making way for Lucky Girl!!! So speaking of Lucky Girl Lynn Harris of the Little Red Hen made the most gorgeous quilt from Lucky Girl!! We are so in love with this Herringbone design!! Lynn you always turn us on with your amazing color choices and this one is no exception! With the most sincere gratitude we thank you!!
Here's the remarkable tote everyone talks about in our Happy Home book. We actually have a beautiful sunhat as well to show you the versatility of quilting cottons, not just for quilts but has expanded to apparel and home dec product categories. We just adore Circa and are so glad you have decided to hoard that line because it will be years before it makes a comeback if at all. It is a classic and will live on long after the shelves are depleted. We thought we'd show you two of the projects from Happy Home done up in Circa for your viewing pleasure. As you all know I have made it my mission to get these books into every sewist's hands so they can have fun creating all the loveliness inside these books!! I know I belabor the issue but I love that these books connect us all and inform us of the aesthetic that is Sis Boom. We love that you join us in our homage to color and all the artists that have gone before us in celebrating color! So enjoy making the market tote and sunhat we appreciate you!!

I do this every year in January . It's a ritual that gets me feeling vital and able to contribute. This process inspires me. As you can see my books ....(almost 30 to date) include notes, photos, memorabilia, ideas, but never judgement. When I grew up I loved new notebooks, clean pages and once I had written in them they felt scarred somehow because I didn't do it perfectly. Yes I had serious perfection issues that kept me from starting many projects. I didn't like being a beginner and going through the ugly duckling phase. With that in mind,I encourage you to do this but not with judgement. I start with a blank journal nothing to precious cause that can also keep me from starting. I combine photos because it was the way I chose to scrapbook, more informally , more integrated into my lifestyle. If I waited for perfect moments and perfect layouts I would never do them. So I choose to keep them in my working albums where I am more inclined to see them. These books become working reference books that I go to for color and product ideas and inspiration. The blessing for me is that my daughter loves to look through them also. I find that she really really loves the visual tool and gets excited by the juxtaposition of form and shape. These books are so helpful to helping me focus, as I cut and glue I am thinking and exploring my world. I am deciding what I choose to place on the pages, they have merit to me and they excite me. So cut things out, print things off the internet, no criticism. I love felt and sequins and to embroider so I created something from the inspiration in these books and I've even included it here for you to see. It's an ugly duckling somewhat but I wanted to show you it's ok to be a beginner and there is no right or wrong way to proceed. My french knots have a ways to go but I could see by taking baby steps they were getting better. That's all a result of not judging the actions I take and telling myself it's ok and it's a process. Go ahead laugh at those loosey goosey french knots, I did!! Try to do something you've always wanted to do and let me know. I'm standing by. xo
