Portfolio

Every January for the past 10 years after a year of collecting inspirational images I set out to collage my Journals….these become for me my trademark emblems… this is how I define myself, my place in this world…I collect thoughtfully, images that resonate with me…that for one reason or another call to me….It’s a very important discipline in my life that like most disciplines reveal freedom and not constraint….I refer to these 20 odd books over and over for color ,for form, for ideas, for juxtaposition, for pattern, for flow…I include press about me and about my business as well as letters, encouraging notes from my mom, my children’s thoughts, accomplishments, art work, anything that provokes me to thought…I love these images and wanted to share with my fellow bloggers….

Jennifer, you’re work is amazing! I don’t know how I haven’t seen you before but I am happy to have found you now. I had to share your inspiration with my blog readers as well. Continue sharing your gifts with the world. We need you!

Thank you Jennifer for sharing these. I never thought of using images to convey my goals, wants. I hate writing, so this may be a way to do that. Something for me to think about. Thanks Clarice

This is such agreat idea. I was just going through my folder of “ideas” tonight looking for inspiration for an upcomming project, (which has that same blue and green cottage as in your first pic) but to put things together in a journal, really cool!

What a wonderful idea! I have pages of index paper Scotch-taped with ideas and notes I’ve written and clipped, and this is so much more beautiful and useable. Thanks, Jennifer! P.S. Now that I’ve found my fabric, I have some silhouettes that I am getting ready to mount similarly to the LHJ spread. I’m so excited!

    beautiful.
I have a friend with whom I do something similar. We have dream books- similar to a scrapbook but without the clutter- blank books waiting for our thoughts and views on spectacular things, like the world and life, and equally spectacular things that strike us at least as so- the trail of ants on the kitchen counter- wiped away- counter cloroxed and yet there they are…again- for a few months at a time one of us has the books- we cut out photos of things that inspire us and write little notations along the side. We then send it off and sit back and wait. It’s always such fun to see what we’ve each found- often times many of the clippings are things I have clipped as well ;)

Funny to read these comments above. The first time I saw your stuff was in Mary Engelbriet about 5 years ago. I have you as a favorite seller in eBay, so I see your stuff there too. I only found out about your blog about 2 months ago from “Everyday is a Holiday” – she raves about you all of the time, with good reason. I loved reading this blog and seeing the images because it’s so interesting to see how other people’s creative minds and work processes operate. Thanks for that. You have many admirers. I’m glad I found your blog, and your art work. I hope you continue and you and your family have a happy and healthy one. Kim.

Well, I do something similar but not quite on this level. A book for every year. I love that idea. What kind of book do you use to put them in? I really love your style and use of color. I enjoy your blog very much. Jen
